1. What HUR Is
A 1/28 scale on-road and off-road RC racing club based in Brampton, Ontario, also running a Tamiya Mini 4WD (1/32 scale) program. We race almost weekly, at least monthly. HUR exists to keep the hobby alive locally, build community, and teach STEM through play, with a particular focus on engaging the Afro-Caribbean community and youth, and building on the hobby’s existing strength in the Filipino community.
2. Code of Conduct
- Respect fellow racers, volunteers, and venue staff, regardless of skill level, background, or how long they’ve been racing
- Race hard, race clean, no intentional contact or unsportsmanlike driving
- New racers get patience, not attitude, everyone started somewhere
- Disputes go to the session organizer, not to arguing on the track
3. Venue Rules
- We race in shared and borrowed spaces (currently Alzheimer’s Society Peel), treat every venue like it’s not ours, because it isn’t
- Clean up after yourself and your gear, every session
- Follow any venue-specific rules posted on site (noise, access, parking) without exception
- Damage to venue property gets reported to the organizer immediately, no exceptions
4. Equipment and Safety
- Batteries and chargers: use as directed, no unattended charging
- Track/course setup and teardown is a shared responsibility, help out
- Loaner equipment (batteries, chargers, tools) gets returned in the condition you got it
5. Youth Participation
- Youth racers are welcome and are a core part of why HUR exists
- Parents/guardians of participants under 18 are expected to remain reasonably available during sessions, HUR staff are not childcare
- Age-appropriate conduct and language at all times, this is a family-friendly space
- STEM learning is built into the Mini 4WD program (build, tune, race), staff will help new youth racers get set up
6. Photo/Video Zone
All HUR premises and events are photo/video zones. By attending, you consent to general event photography and video for our website, social media, and promotional use. If HUR wants to specifically name or feature a minor (article, spotlight, testimonial), we’ll get separate guardian sign-off first. Full detail in our Privacy Policy.
If you don’t want to be photographed, let event staff know when you arrive.
7. Fees and Entry
- Entry fees vary by discipline and session, posted on the calendar for each event
- Mini 4WD: typically $5-10 per car entered, covers space, tools, loaner batteries/chargers
- Some events support our charity partnerships, proceeds noted at signup
8. Community Partnerships
We race in spaces made possible by local partners (20Hz Audio & Security, Alzheimer’s Society Peel). Some events raise funds that partially support our charity partners’ work. Treat these partnerships, and the people behind them, with the respect they’ve earned by giving us a place to race.
9. Questions or Concerns
Bring it to a session organizer directly, or reach out via huraceway.com/contact. Small club, direct conversations, that’s how we keep this running well.
